Andrea Ramolo is a long-time Canadian touring and recording artist, a multiple Canadian Folk Music Award nominee, an award-winning filmmaker and music video director, and an actor and educator. She was one-half of the successful folk harmony duo Scarlett Jane and more recently released her 8th studio record - an ancestral Italian electronic folk album with Italian band Kalàscima. In 2023, she won the Canadian Ethnic Media Award for Best Documentary for her first feature-length Canada Arts Council-funded music documentary THE SOUTH. Her co-direction on her own music video for FREE (ft. Kinnie Starr) was awarded Best Folk Video at the 2022 Canadian Independent Music Video Awards. Andrea is presently working on her 9th studio record which she plans to self-produce while simultaneously sharpening her skills and love for producing and creating spaces for her colleagues.
Andrea is the artistic director of a brand new Toronto music festival called Our Music Festival - boasting a lineup that celebrates female and gender-diverse voices only. Having had a hand in producing large multi-artist and multidisciplinary events in the past, including a five year run of a women’s music collective alongside a handful of her talented colleagues, coupled with multiple inspiring conversations that came out of an online meetup group of some of Canada’s most profound female and non-binary artists throughout the pandemic, Andrea decided she wanted to have a hand in helping to initiate more change for her peers in the music industry.
Andrea has shared the stage with Madison Violet, Gordon Lightfoot, Blackie and the Rodeo Kings, Adam Cohen and the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, and more. She was the host of her own radio show called Vintage Italy with Andrea Ramolo on ITOC Radio, is continuing to produce and direct films, is currently writing a comedic mini series, and continues to tour nationally and internationally.
